The Seven Strategies for Business Growth are:
  1. Understand marketing in the New Economy.
The book, 'Digital Aboriginals' succinctly describes the changes that have occurred to people and the way we do business today in the so called, 'New Economy'. It is characterized by the 'Me' paradigm. Understanding the fundamentals of Marketing means starting with understanding your customer, then understanding your business and how it fits into the puzzle of your business environment. The outputs are advertising, promotion and persuasion strategies to find your customers and fulfill their needs.

  2. Have a vision, mission, method and a plan.
Like a Captain of a ship; you need to know your destination, have a course, have landmarks, have a duty roster for the helmsman and of make important decisions along the way as the weather changes… As in business, envisioning an end state and being able to guide the business through good and bad is an essential part of success.

  3. Define and develop your centre of gravity.
We understand how important it is to have a sustainable competitive advantage. We often talked about our 'Unique Selling Proposition' (USP). In today's environment it isn't good enough to rely on just your USP to survive in business. COG is about defining and building your business' strengths, mitigating your weaknesses and creating a solid foundation for growth.

  4. Be a leader and lead a business team.
As our customers have changed, so have our people in the business. No longer content with just being staff, people are seeking enterprises that they can align their own goals with, that see's them as part of a team effort and respects and rewards them. Leading people well is a skill that successful business people have always recognised, it is now even more important than ever.

  5. Be a partner in the sales process.
Exceeding your customer's expectations is not a nice to do but a must do. Customer's simply expect more, they are empowered, focused on real value and most importantly want to be in control of the sale. By partnering with the customer to help fulfil their needs and not being part of a sales process is a perspective shift that will help align good old fashioned human service with the speed and technology of the New Economy.

  6. Seek the 3P (people, process & products) edge.
Use technology to support the business, not run the business. Getting your priorities for technology is simply a matter of using it to give your people, processes and products the edge in a competitive environment.

  7. Build and maintain your Business Operating Systems.
Identifying your business' functional components and capturing your procedures, business knowledge and experience is a powerful way to build value and efficiency. The BOS's will also importantly set the conditions for your business to run with out you, so you can finally have the business support your lifestyle, not the other way round.
